We offer two different types of Manifold for the BMW MINI each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages. These can be used to make your own Turbo or Twin Charger kits, and do represent the most difficult part of any conversion.

Cast Manifolds are used on the MCT170 and MCT200 conversions. Cast manifolds are more expensive in terms of set-up costs to manufacture and ultimately more reliable in use, but flows less and weighs about twice that of a tubular steel manifold. The weight of the manifolds we make are about 4.5 Kg. They are manufactured in a furnace from molten metal and then ported to achieve best flow, and treated for stress relief. Our cast manifolds rely on Turbos with internal wastegates which again do not flow as well as external ones, but are simpler, cheaper and more compact. This system is more in line with that used by car manufacturers, and when fitted you could think it was an original product. This manifold is limited to about 240 bhp applications due to its flow limits.

The Turbo is side mounted and the primary ports are not of the same length. Turbo mounting flange for smaller turbos, but flange is large enough to be retapped for T3/4. Best for reliability and lower power applications.

A Tubular Manifold is cheaper in terms of set-up costs to make, but far more labour intensive to actually manufacture. They are made by hand in Jigs which brings with it a large labour cost. Cheap foreign manufactured items (not available for MINI but for other cars) can be a nightmare in terms of accuracy and quality of welds. Tubular manifold generally flow better for higher power, and are lighter at about 2.5Kg. Our manifolds are fully braced and because they are slightly more prone to cracking are mounted not only on the original manifold mounts but also on additional ones to support both the weight and also to account for expansion due to the intense heat. We tend to use external wastegates with tubular manifolds as external wastegates usually flow better for higher power applications. External wastegate ports can be blocked off by simply bolting a blanking plate over the port, and then you can use an internal wastegate turbo although these tend to reduce maximum power due to restricted flow.

These manifolds are made from mandrel bent tube (not water pipes as other manufacturers use!!!) which is stainless steel and then TIG welded. Some welds are robot and some by hand - all welds are argon backfilled to ensure the inside of the weld is not porous (no-one else does this expensive procedure as far as we can see from looking at their products) This set-up is more like Motorsport or Race applications, and certainly looks more stylish than the cast alternative. The equal length primary tubes look absolutely beautiful. Best for ultimate power applications. Large Turbo Mouting flange for T3/T4, GT28RS, GT3076, GT40,,,

The long equal length primaries combined with selected separate cylinder flow into the turbo helps turbo response and low down torque and power in a way that cannot be achieved with cast manifolds.

High Flow Tubular Stainless Steel Manifold - good low speed response from 1.5inch primaries
Good up to about 320 bhp.

High Flow Tubular Stainless Steel Manifold - great for maximum horse power from 1.75 inch primaries
Good for applications up to and in excess of 500bhp.

Both are TIG welded from stainless steel mandrel bend pipe - no water pipes welded together with 5  joints per primary (as per some others)

All Manifolds are fully guaranteed under our limited liability guarantee. They are not guaranteed not to crack, but the manufacturing specs we use makes this far less likely than alternative products. Should your manifold crack within 5 years for cast or 2 years for tubular ones then simply remove and return the item and we will repair it for free. (Does not include the cost  of labour to remove or refit or carriage). We cannot say fairer than that!
